About Us

Built to answer one simple question

Was this written by a person? OriginalityChecker.org exists to give writers, educators, and editors a straightforward answer — without unnecessary complexity or paywalls.

Why we built this

The rise of AI writing tools has changed what “original” means. A piece of text can be completely unique — never published anywhere before — and still have been generated entirely by a language model in seconds. Traditional plagiarism tools weren’t built for that problem.

We built OriginalityChecker.org to fill that gap. Our goal is simple: give anyone with a piece of text a fast, honest, sentence-level assessment of whether it reads as human-written or AI-generated — and let them decide what to do with that information.

No upsells after every check. No mandatory account creation. No 14-day free trial that requires a credit card. Just a tool that works when you need it.

What we believe

🎯
Clarity over scores

A single percentage tells you little. Sentence-level breakdown tells you where to focus.

🔒
Your text stays yours

We don’t store, index, or repurpose submitted content. It’s analyzed and discarded.

⚖️
Honest about limitations

No detector is 100% accurate. We show confidence signals — not verdicts you should act on blindly.

🚪
Low friction by design

Paste, click, read. That’s the full flow. Accounts, sign-ups, and onboarding are optional, not mandatory.

Who uses OriginalityChecker.org

Our users include students reviewing drafts before submission, freelance writers confirming their work will meet client expectations, teachers and instructors who want a quick signal on submitted assignments, and editors and publishers running a first-pass check on contributed content.

We don’t assume intent. Someone checking their own writing for AI patterns has different needs from someone reviewing a submission. The tool serves both without prejudging either.

A note on accuracy

AI detection is a probabilistic task, not a deterministic one. Our model identifies statistical patterns in language that correlate with AI-generated text — but correlation is not proof. Highly formal writing, technical documentation, and some academic styles can score lower on the human scale without being AI-generated. We display confidence signals, not conclusions. How you interpret and act on a result is always your decision.

We update our detection models as AI writing tools evolve. The landscape changes quickly, and we track it.
